 Special Education Workshop with special guest Randy Ewart - Monday, September 26th at 6:00pm

Join Newington SEPTA and the Lucy Robbins Welles Library Children's Department for a presentation on how to navigate the special education system.  Randy Ewart is a parent of a five year old with special needs.  He is a long time math teacher now working on a master's degree in Special Education, with a focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  He uses his professional and personal experiences to help educate parents and teachers on special education accommodations.  This program is open to all, no registration is required.

 

Challenge Course Outing, Saturday, October 15th from 9:00-3:00

The Newington Challenge Course is an exciting and powerful way for children with special needs, and their families, to foster team development and personal growth.  The course is designed to teach participants important life skills of problem solving, decision making, cooperation and communication.Participants will learn to respect and value themselves and others, and develop self-confidence.  The course is handicap accessible and the ChallengeCourse Staff are trained and experienced in the field of Adventure Programming, adaptive techniques for all populations, Challenge Course Facilitation, First Aid and CPR.

The challenge course is a fun and non-competitive learning experience for everyone!  Space is limited so sign-up early!  Participant fee of $10.00 per family member and waivers (call or write to request wavier) must be received by: Friday, October 7th. Checks should be made payable to: Newington SEPTA and mailed to: Jane Siegel at: Ancona and Siegel Law Offices, 49 East Cedar Street, Newington, CT 06111.

This will be a low and high ropes course day.  All can participate on low ropes.  High ropes participants must be 9 years old or older.
